Reaching Molokini Backwall

Paddling along the back wall of Molokini Crater is an experience that few who visit Molokini get to enjoy. Only the smaller boats can stop in this area as it is too deep to anchor. Your guide will lead you around the back wall if ocean and wind conditions allow a safe passage.

Snorkeling Inside The Crater

This tour is really more about the challenge of paddling there (and back) then it is about the snorkel portion of the tour. We will let you jump in and snorkel to explore the rarely seen outer rims of Molokini’s reefs as well as paddle around the back wall if weather and time permits. This will largely depend on your paddling ability and how long it takes to paddle to Molokini.

Big Boat Molokini Snorkeling Tour

Snorkeling at Molokini without the crowds is the best way to go no doubt, but you’ll have to put in a loooong… paddle in order to do that.

The benefit is that you pick where and how far you go within the crater. The big boats have to anchor deep inside the crater while your guide keeps you at the rim where there are more marine life activity and fewer people.

When Do We Get Pictures From Our Experience?

Your free photos will arrive at you later that afternoon. Your guides will pick the best ones to share with you along with some follow-up information about Maui and the Marine Life.

Why Does This Tour Start At 6AM?

This tour is 3-4 hours long depending on weather conditions and paddling ability. The goal is to complete the challenge prior to the winds and waves picking up in the later morning. We want to start early while the winds are calm for the best experience.

Why Do You Have To Be At Least 16 Years To Do This Tour?

This is not called the Molokini Challenge for no reason. It’s a long paddle, there and back. Once we embark on the challenge we set a healthy pace that everyone must be able to keep to ensure we make back to shore before the winds pick up.

Your guides are at work before your 6 am departure time to make sure conditions are great for both the trip out there and the way back. If there is any issue they will let you know right away.
